This is a work I've been excited to share for months now! While all of MODUS was preparing degree recitals at UT in the Fall, we spent our time together decompressing from the stress of it all by preparing one of our favorite saxophone quartet pieces!
Hypercolor by David Werfelmann is a gorgeous work in it's entirety, mixing harmony and sound in such a way to evoke images of vivid colors. These deep hues take so many forms within each movement, not only shifting shade but also transforming shape from spirals, to splashes on a canvas, to strips and spats from a paintbrush. On the MM recital for our alto chair, Sarah Hetrick, we closed the program with our favorite movement, the most joyful, in my opinion - Colors That Dance. Please enjoy our performance below, allowing the sounds to fill the inner canvas in your imagination!
