This summer I've been rolling up my sleeves and getting down to business with teaching and planning for the upcoming school year. It's hard to imagine that it's already here!! Before life starts moving a mile a minute once again, I wanted to share some of my favorite musical memories from the summer.
SIDE CHALLENGE: Every single one of these photos and video has a photo-bomb in them. Can you spot them all???
You can call me Master Padilla
MODUS Performing in the Commencement Band at our own graduation!
The biggest and most unbelievable one is that after two years at UT (that went by in a blink of an eye!) I've now completed my Masters Degree in Saxophone Performance! As excited as I am to be moving forward, I will always cherish this time of my life and the people that made it so special. I owe so much to my mentor Dr. Stephen Page, my closest friends and most inspiring colleagues in MODUS, and an unbelievably supportive family that has supported me from day one on the horn!
Saxophone in the Summer with Density512!
As mentioned above, I had a wonderful time performing with the Density512 concert series! The clip above comes from the UT Composers' Showcase concert. I also enjoyed playing the Stack Overflow show of Electro-acoustic music at 4th Tap Brewery. I loved sharing really exciting music with great crowds both nights!
At the Young Saxophonist's Institute in Keller w/ UT alumni Calvin Wong and Ryan Yett
Right after I graduated in May, my June was filled with the opportunity to meet over 120 middle and high school saxophonists through three different summer camps! Each one was it's own special barrel of fun: getting to work individually with the Longhorn Music Camp middle schoolers, spending time learning Yakety Sax with the Saxophone Academy Austin Campers, and finally performing Van Halen's "Jump" arranged for the 70+ saxophone choir of campers and staff at the Young Saxophonists's Institute!
That's all for now! Good luck to everyone starting the school year, whether your just starting beginning band or are starting school after several weeks of high school marching camp, and all in between. Have a wonderful fall term!
